Part 2; In July, Wellspect HealthCare teamed up with children’s bladder and bowel charity ERIC, to give two members of our team the opportunity of a lifetime to complete a skydive and raise much needed funds for this valuable charity.
Last time we heard from Select Customer Care Advisor, Electra (read the blog here), this week we have an account from Adel, who is a Territory Sales Manager for Wellspect:
“Firstly – I am alive!
I was so happy and excited when I found out that my name had been picked out and I was going to be taking part in the skydive for the children’s charity ERIC.
Although my overwhelming emotion was excitement, naturally there were a few nerves, but the fact that I knew that I was going to be doing this with my colleague Electra definitely helped! The day itself was very well organised but also very relaxed. After signing in and having an introductory talk, we were shown a video of what to expect – the heart started racing at this point!
We were then taken to the actual training session, which involved changing into the appropriate clothing and harness. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, but it turned out that it involved hanging from a rig! We practiced all the relevant and correct positions for exiting the aircraft and landing – best to not get this wrong!
We were then taken onto the airfield where we met our instructors for the first time. We had a chat and pulled together some Dutch courage and then we were taken over to the plane. We took off and once we had reached the desired height, it was time to take the plunge – literally!
I have to say that it was the ultimate adrenaline rush jumping out of the plane at 10,000ft and freefalling at 125mph, I honestly cannot think of anything that would beat it! Once the parachute opened, I was able to take in the amazing views of the south west of England as we sedately glided back down to earth.
I felt so proud to have done the skydive for charity as it is a great feeling knowing that all the money that we raised will be helping the lives of young people and will make a real difference.
I would like to thank my colleagues, friends and family for their kind words, support and donations to the ERIC charity. I am also so proud of Electra for completing this challenge with me, and I am so pleased that we did it together. This truly was an amazing day that I will never ever forget and I wouldn’t want to. I would do it all over again any day.
Electra I have to say I am so proud of you for doing the Skydive and I am so pleased that we did it together!!”
An amazing experience for both Electra, Adel and all the other divers who managed to raise £4090 for an incredible charity – well done!
